How to keep a skin fade looking sharp between cuts

A skin fade looks its best in the first week or so, but regrowth around the sides can make it look uneven fairly quickly. One simple way to slow this down is to keep the area trimmed yourself with a small trimmer, just going over the faded section lightly rather than trying to recreate the whole thing.

It also helps to keep the hair on top well maintained with a bit of product, as this draws attention away from any regrowth lower down. A light pomade or matte paste can keep things looking tidy without weighing the hair down.

Washing less frequently can help too, since over-washing tends to dry out the scalp and can make the fade look patchy sooner than it should. Stick to two or three washes a week if you can manage it.

Most people find that booking in every three to four weeks keeps a fade looking consistently sharp without letting it grow out too much in between. If you're ever unsure, just ask your barber for tips suited to your own hair type.
